Join Us For Our 2019 Open House & Pancake Breakfast

Sacred Heart Catholic School invites all current and prospective parents, parishioners, and community members to our annual Open House & Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • Learn about our academic programs, and meet with our principal, pastor, faculty, advisory school board, student council, and student ambassadors. 

  • Inquire about admissions and scholarship opportunities to cover tuition fees. Register for the current school year or request information about registration for the upcoming 2019 – 2020 school year. 

  • Any current Sacred Heart Catholic School parent who brings a prospective family to the Open House & Pancake Breakfast and that family registers students for the 2019 – 2020 school year will be credited with all 40 required volunteer hours for the upcoming school year. 

  • Pancakes, waffles, bacon, freshly brewed coffee, menudo and other goodies will be served after every morning Mass.

Carta de los padres con respecto a la intimidación

Estimados padres / tutores,

Me entristece informarles que lamentablemente estamos experimentando problemas de Bullying  en nuestra escuela. Este problema es homogéneo en todos los niveles académicos aun cuando  constantemente nuestro personal académico como su servidora hemos abordado el  tema de manera regular. El año pasado esta situación  escalo al punto que el  Departamento de Policía de Nogales acudió a platicar con estudiantes que habían sido acusados e Bullying en más de una ocasión,  durante el tiempo que han sido parte de  la Escuela Católica Sagrado Corazón. Los estudiantes fueron suspendidos y en dos de estos casos los estudiantes fueron expulsados. Sin embargo, el problema persiste.

Me he comunicado con el Departamento de Policía de Nogales para solicitar que acudan a dar una charla a  nuestros estudiantes ; hasta el día  de hoy no  han confirmado fecha para esta platica. Además, estoy trabajando con el Fiscal General de la Oficina de Arizona, Mark Brnovich; quien traerán un Programa Anti-Bullying para 4 ° - 8 ° grado (se invitará a los padres a asistir). Estamos planeando implementar  este programa a principios de mayo, la fecha está por determinarse. El Distrito Escolar Unificado de Nogales ha invitado a nuestros alumnos de quinto grado a asistir a una asamblea en el Auditorio de la Escuela Secundaria Nogales el martes 1 de mayo de 2018 a las 9:00 a.m. Habrá una asamblea separada para padres ese mismo día a las 6:00 p.m. (martes 1 de mayo de 2018) en el Auditorio de la Escuela Secundaria de Nogales. Por favor ver el volante adjunto.

El Bullying es un problema serio que comienza lentamente con consecuencias devastadoras para quienes lo sufren. De acuerdo con el estudio The Adverse Childhood Experience , "Un niño que ha sido agredido  puede experimentar efectos negativos de  salud mental; puede padecer sentimientos de tristeza, soledad y aislamiento. La salud física también puede verse afectada: con  alteraciones del sueño,  enfermedades cardíacas,  trastornos alimenticios  y otras dolencias que pueden permanecer  hasta la edad adulta. El rendimiento académico y la participación disminuye  y en algunos casos los niños pueden reaccionar de manera violenta. El Bullying es igualmente uno de los principales generadores del suicidio juvenil”.

Por favor visite www.stopbullying.gov o consulte los folletos y las hojas informativas que se enviaron a casa y hablar con sus hijos sobre los efectos nocivos del BUllying escolar. También es importante definir y entender correctamente lo que es el Bullying.  Los invitamos a trabajar como equipo a erradicar este problema  y  proteger a nuestros niños. Estamos aquí para guiar, educar, servir y proteger  a sus hijos.

Parent Letter Regarding Bullying

Dear Parents/Guardian,

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to inform you that we are experiencing an issue with bullying at our school. This problem is endemic throughout grade levels. Our faculty and staff have been addressing this topic consistently for several years. Last year we went as far as to bring the Nogales Police Department in to speak with students that had been accused of bullying more that one time during their tenure at Sacred Heart Catholic School. Students have been suspended and in two cases expelled. Yet the problem continues.

I have contacted the Nogales Police Department and asked them to come in to speak with our students; as of today (April 18, 2018) they have not given me a date. Additionally I am working with the office of Arizona Attorney General, Mark Brnovich; they will be bringing in an Anti-Bullying Program for 4th - 8th grades (parents will be invited to attend). We are planning on hosting this program in early May, date to be determined. Nogales Unified School District has invited our firth grade students to attend an assembly at the Nogales High School Auditorium on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. There will be a separate assembly for parents at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Nogales High School Auditorium.

Bullying is a serious issue that begins slowly with devastating consequences. According to The Adverse Childhood Experience Study, "A child who is bullied may experience negative mental health effects - there may be feelings of sadness, loneliness, and isolation. Physical health can also be affected - sleep disturbance, heart disease, eating disorders and other ailments can last into adulthood. Academic performance and participation may slump and some may retaliate with violence. Bullying is also a risk factor for youth suicide."

Please visit www.stopbullying.gov or refer to the handouts and fact sheets that were sent home and speak with your children about the harmful effects of bullying. It is also important to define bullying appropriately. We would like to work with you as a team to protect our children. We are here to serve, educate, minister, and protect your children.
